Hello World, my name is Robert Savage and I have been working as a Senior Software Engineer for AMX since 2000. AMX is a control systems company that produces innovative hardware and software solutions for controlling, automating, and managing AV devices & systems. See below for a more complete description.
I have spent many years programming and designing home and business solutions using the NetLinx langauge on our embedded control systems platform, but in the past 5 years or so I have been leading the development on our premier control systems management solution known as Resource Management Suite (RMS). The RMS prduct is a Windows server hosted solution that provides centralized control, managment, scheduling, analysis, and reporting for distributed control systems.
Working on the RMS product has given me the opportunity to expand my development portfolio to include many languages and technologies including C++, Visual Basic, C#.NET, VB.NET, Delphi, HTML, JavaScript, ASP, ASP.NET, Java EE, and AS3. Another project feature-set and learning opportunity afforded by the RMS product is plug-in integration with many of the leading scheduling and collaboration systems including Microsoft Exchange, Novell GroupWise, and IBM Lotus Notes. So from embedded systems programming – to backend server – to web based GUI, I have been immersed in all facets of the RMS solution. And I LOVE what I do!!! One my my greatest passions is learning and without a doubt AMX and RMS continue to feed this hunger 
Outside of work, well … I enjoy snow skiing, water skiiing, woodcraft-carpentry, and sad to say … progamming. As of this past year I have jumped knee deep into the home theater PC (HTPC) enthusiasts arena. My years of undying hatred and frustrations with so called DVRs/PVRs from the cable companies and satellite companies led me to install a complete HTPC whole-home solution. I decided on the Java-based SageTV solution and I have been extremely happy with the outcome. More on these experiences to come in future blog posts.
